In Crowded Primary, Sierra Club Picks Joe Vogel for Congress

Gaithersburg, MD – Climate advocacy organization Sierra Club announced its endorsement of Joe Vogel for Congress in Maryland’s 6th Congressional District.

“Joe Vogel has been a partner in the work to combat the climate crisis and that’s why the Sierra Club is proud to endorse him for Congress,” said Rich Norling, Political Chair of the Sierra Club Maryland Chapter. “We need to elect leaders who don’t just know what’s at stake, but also take action to get things done. We trust Joe to be a strong partner and voice for the environment in Congress because he has consistently shown up and advocated for environmental policies that move our state forward on climate. In Congress, we know he’ll do just the same.”

“I am honored to have the support of Sierra Club,” said Delegate Joe Vogel. “Sierra Club has been at the forefront of the fight for a more sustainable future here in Maryland and across the country. I could not be more excited to have their support in this fight not just because Sierra Club knows how to fight, but also because they know how to win. They are relentless in the fight against the climate crisis and I can’t wait to continue working with them as a member of Congress.”

In the legislature, Vogel has established a record of bold climate leadership. He has sponsored legislation aimed at investing in climate innovation and technology and worked with his colleagues to pass significant legislation aimed at making Maryland a national climate leader. In Congress, he’ll continue this work because he knows that the decisions we make now will have profound consequences for his generation and generations after.
